Season 6 of “Game of Thrones” will start airing this Sunday, and HBO has made its premium service, HBO Now, free this weekend, allowing fans of the fantasy drama based on George R. R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” series to watch the premiere episode online for free.

The first episode of the season is titled “The Red Woman,” and will solve one of the biggest cliffhangers of the Season 5 finale. Jon Snow, the character essayed by Kit Harington, was stabbed to death by his Night’s Watch comrades in the Season 5 finale, titled “Mother’s Mercy.”

But is he really dead? “Game of Thrones” is known for killing off fan favourites, but a good number of fans are reluctant to believe Jon is dead. Fan theories suggest Melisandre will play a crucial role in resurrecting Jon, but actress Carice van Houten recently dashed those hopes, saying Melisandre might not be up to the task.

“I’m afraid I’m going to disappoint a lot of people,” she told Empire magazine. “Why so much pressure on my character? I mean, I understand that he’s the good we want in this crazy world. And me and my mother and my sister want him to come back very desperately. But Melisandre has never brought anyone back to life. Why does it have to be me?”
